Conrad unleashes Bothma on Eagles.(Sports)

Coach Shukri Conrad has handed young seamer Johan Bothma his Cape Cobras debut in the SuperSport Series match against the Diamond Eagles starting at Newlands today.

Bothma (20) has been given an opportunity due to the breakdown of regular Cobras bowlers Charl Langeveldt (shoulder) and Francois Plaatjies (stress fracture). All-rounder Vernon Philander is also unavailable due to suspension.

But Bothma is not just a stop-gap measure. The right-armer, who has a wiry frame and is similiar in build to Proteas express Dale Steyn, has excelled for the Boland Amateur team this season.
