Qld: Aboriginal youths charged over $10,000 dump truck rampage

Police reinforcements had to be airlifted to the remote Cape York Aboriginal community
of Aurukun yesterday to put an end to a four-hour rampage by six Aboriginal youths.

Police say the young men went joyriding in a stolen council dump truck and -- by the
time four local police and an inspector arrived on the scene -- had clocked up a $10,000
damages bill.

Police have accused the group of destroying numerous fences, knocking down trees, ramming
