VIC:Rain a mixed blessing for Vic firefighters

MELBOURNE, Feb 4 AAP - Rain has delivered mixed blessings for Victorian firefighters
battling a large bushfire in East Gippsland.

Deputy incident controller Glenn Harrap said the rain had helped cool down conditions,
but it had also hampered backburning efforts.

Firefighters hoped to have the fire contained by late Friday.

Mr Harrap said the rain had made tracks slippery and dangerous for firefighters conducting
backburning.
