Queensbury running dynamo Jeff Dybas, the defending New York State Class B cross country champion, is preparing himself to run against a tough opponent this fall - himself.

"What runners do I consider my chief rivals this year? I'm not really thinking in terms of running against individuals this year," said Dybas this past week before a practice session. "I won't focus on people but will just try to compete against myself and do the best I can. A lot of people play golf that way, so I'm just going to try out the theory for myself in running."
