ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Unemployment in Greece eased to 17.5 percent in September, a statistics agency said Thursday, but a slip in state revenues has added a new threat to the country's closely watched budget targets.
The Greek Statistical Authority said the jobless rate had improved from 18.4 percent in August.
Unemployment has surged in the past two years as a result of austerity measures aimed at dealing with the country's major debt crisis.
