Let's hear it for a dull Chicago election

One hears complaints that the election campaign that concludedlast week was dull. Thank heaven! The last thing Chicago neededwas an exciting campaign.

The polls last fall projected Richard M. Daley an easy winner.Everything since had been based on the fervent hope of othercandidates that he would make a mistake - a hope for which there wasno basis in his past campaign performances.
