NSW: Seven to face court after car 'rebirthing' ring is cracked
Five adults and two juveniles face court today after Australian authorities smasheda car rebirthing operation allegedly exporting stolen high-performance vehicles to theMiddle East.
All were last night refused bail, after officers cracked the ring yesterday.
Four men and a woman, aged 19 to 43, will appear today in Parramatta Local Court oncharges of conspiracy to dispose of stolen property and conspiracy to cheat and defraud.
The juveniles, a youth aged 16 and a 17-year-old girl, face the same charges in theLidcombe Children's Court.
All seven are from Punchbowl, Wetherill Park and Belmore in Sydney's southwest.
Another five men, aged 26 to 37, have been granted conditional bail to face court laterthis month.
Four will appear in Liverpool Local Court on August 22, charged with conspiracy todispose of stolen property, conspiracy to cheat and defraud and drugs and firearms offences.
The fifth man will appear in Blacktown Local Court this month on charges of receivingstolen goods and goods in custody.
The five are from Seven Hills, Lurnea, St Clair, Cecil Hills and Glendenning.
Authorities allege more than 100 carjacked, stolen and rebirthed vehicles may havemade their way from Sydney onto the streets of Jordan and Lebanon in the lead-up to yesterday'sarrests.
