Telstra full year profit seen up 20 pct helped by cost savings

Telecommunications giant Telstra is expected to report a 20 per cent rise in its annual
net profit today, helped by cost savings and the absence of any major writedowns as in
previous years.

A survey of analysts' forecast shows the average estimate for Telstra's net profit
for 2003/04 is around $4.25 billion, up from $3.43 billion a year ago.

Forecasts range from $4.16 billion to $4.49 billion.
